The LEGO Ideas Test Lab’s Pick a Brick Challenge is Now Open!

by Andrea Certo

Get ready for another round of creative fun with LEGO Ideas Test Lab’s Pick a Brick Challenge, in partnership with Pick a Brick! The LEGO Group is excited to invite you to participate in this exciting contest and to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the LEGO Minifigures!

The Challenge

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to use between 150 and 200 elements from a select BrickLink Studio palette to create customizable display stands for your Minifigures. Your display stands must:

  • Contain between 150 and 200 elements
  • Feature some customization (with the elements to customize included in your submission)
  • Display at least 4 Minifigures
  • Be compatible with both Minifigures and Minidolls

Check out the LEGO Ideas Test Lab’s Pick a Brick Challenge page for the complete rules and guidelines.

Eligibility

The contest is open to participants aged 18 and above. However, due to legal reasons, some countries cannot participate. If you’re eligible, you’ll be able to access the Test Lab platform.

How to Participate

You can start building your design with the BrickLink Studio palette today! The submission window runs from May 9th to May 23rd, 2023. A crowd vote will be held between May 25th and June 8th, which will help the judging team understand the community’s preferences when they begin their evaluations on June 8th.

Rewards for Selected Designs

Selected submissions will be available for purchase through the Pick and Build hub on LEGO.com. If your design is chosen, you’ll receive a $1,500 USD (before tax) reward! You can also view the selected designs from the first Pick a Brick pilot challenge, now available for purchase through the Pick a Brick Hub.

About LEGO Ideas Test Lab

Introduced in 2017 and reintroduced in 2022, the LEGO Ideas Test Lab is an experimental platform for testing new features, functionality, designs, and experiences for LEGO Ideas.

It is precisely from this project that the Pick a Brick Builds was recently born! We talked about it in this article!
